U.S. President Donald Trump gave an interview today about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He said Israel doesn’t want peace and the Palestinians don’t want peace. Well, close but not quite. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu doesn’t want the Palestinians to have their own, independent, sovereign state like Israel has. I would say he also doesn’t want the Palestinians to have any kind of state, at least anywhere close to Israel. That, folks, is not loving your neighbor as yourself, as the... Read more

In early December last year, U.S. President Donald Trump parted ways with all past U.S. presidents in modern history by recognizing Jerusalem as “the eternal capital of Israel.” He also said he would move the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. But he did not say if it would be located in East Jerusalem, which would anger Palestinians even more since they claim their capital of a future Palestinian state should be in East Jerusalem. Let’s first look briefly... Read more

Yesterday, Egypt’s military announced it had killed 16 militants in North Sinai. It was the culmination of a three-month military operation that Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi announced last year in late November after an ISIS affiliate attacked a mosque in North Sinai, killing over 300 worshippers there. President el-Sisi is a former military general who is running for reelection as president next month. He says he is the only Egyptian who can restore Egypt’s security. El-Sisi previously had been... Read more

Left-hander Ted Potter, Jr., just won the PGA Tour’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at the picturesque Pebble Beach Golf Links course in Monterey, California. It’s plush, green fairways and pure white sand bunkers slink along Big Blue–the biggest water hazard in the world–which is the Pacific Ocean. Potter won by three strokes over his nearest challengers. Four players tied for second: Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Phil Mickelson, and Chez Reavie. It was Reavie’s second, 2nd-place finish on the PGA Tour... Read more

Recently, I read someone who said when Jesus ascended to heaven and sat down at God’s right hand on a throne with him, that was both God’s throne and Jesus’ throne. I don’t recall ever hearing or reading that before. And I forget where I read it. Was that person right? In Jesus’ so-called High Priestly Prayer, in John 17–which he prayed to the “Father” (God; v. 1) right before Jesus was captured and soon crucified–he said, “all mine are... Read more

President Donald Trump is at it again. Or did he ever quit? Demeaning people about their physical appearance or other such characteristics. For example, years ago he called Hollywood actor and comedian Rosie O’Donnell “a fat pig.” In a single speech in 2007, Trump called Rosie “a degenerate” and “a slob” and “a pig.” Trump proudly calls such behavior of his resisting “political correctness,” and so many of his political supporters applaud him for it. I call it being a jerk!... Read more

Gary Woodland just won the Waste Management Phoenix Open in a one-hole playoff with Chez Reavie on the 18th hole at the TPC Stadium Course in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona. It was athletic-looking Woodland’s third win on the PGA Tour in five years. Both players closed strong to make the playoff in a big group of players on Sunday who were in the hunt. Woodland, playing out front, birdied 15, 16, and 17, and made a weak putt on his ten-foot... Read more

Rickie Fowler closed with three straight birdies today to take a one shot lead going into the final round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open at the TPC Stadium Course in Scottsdale, Arizona. I know; I was there (because I live nearby). Rickie has shot 66, 66, and 67 on the par 71 course for a three-round total of 199. But it may be quite a dog race tomorrow for the championship. Three players are tied in second place at... Read more

Superstar Jason Day, who has been fighting back trouble for a while, bested Alex Noren today in one hole to win the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in LaJolla, California. It was their sixth playoff hole after five sudden death playoff holes yesterday ended in darkness, forcing them to return today to produce a winner. They played the par-five 18th hole again, thus four times out of six playoff holes. Day drove into the rough, laid up, and put... Read more

Three players finished tied at 10-under par, 278, for 72 holes of regulation play at the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines 36-hole public golf facility in La Jolla, California. They were superstar Australian Jason Day, American Ryan Palmer, and Swede Alex Noren. The sudden playoff started on the par-five 18th hole on the South Course, with its green bordered on the front left with a small lake. Ryan Palmer was ousted with a par while the other... Read more
