Religious Jews used to be required to say a lengthy prayer every day known as the Eighteen Benedictions. It is also called The Amidah Prayer. Some think the so-called “Lord’s Prayer” that Jesus taught–recorded in Matthew 6.9-13 and Luke 11.2-4–represents somewhat of a condensation of the Amidah Prayer. Well, not quite. The twelfth of the eighteen benedictions in the Amidah Prayer is a curse against Christians and other heretics. It says, “For the apostates let there be no hope, and... Read more

In the history of golf, there are some false statements made about Sam Snead’s famous driver with which he won most of his seven majors and most of his total 82 wins on the PGA Tour, which record still stands. It is correct that he used this club for many years, reportedly seventeen, in the prime of his career. But this club was not a Wilson driver as is occasionally reported. (Incidentally, I wonder if such reports were affected by... Read more

U.S. President Donald Trump is throwing the world into a trade war that could seriously and negatively affect financial markets worldwide and many national economies. Its focus is the trade war between the world’s two largest financial behemoths, the U.S. and China. Trump says trade wars are “great.” Most economists disagree. How is it that Donald Trump is such an expert on so many things? President Trump and his aides say China is paying for the tariffs that Trump has... Read more

President Donald Trump is a pretty good golfer who owns many elite golf properties. This weekend, he is spending his leisure at his most frequented golf property during his presidency, which is Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in Bedminster, New Jersey. Since he has been president, it is his 18th trip there; and tomorrow, it will be his 67th day there. The U.S. government pays for these travel and necessary security expenses. How much does all of this cost American... Read more

Many political pundits claim Marianne Williamson won the second round debate last night among Democrat challengers running for the 2020 U.S. presidential election that was hosted by CNN. Her only experience with politics is that she ran for a congressional seat in California in 2014 and lost. I had never heard of Marianne Williamson until the night before last night’s debate. She is a self-help psychologist of sorts who has written thirteen books, four of which have been New York Times... Read more

President Donald Trump constantly berates America’s two best newspaper–The New York Times and The Washington Post–calling them “Fact News.” It’s because they work so hard at telling true facts, and Trump works so hard at distorting facts and telling outright lies. In fact, these two newspapers have fact-check departments that claim Donald Trump has told 10,000 lies or gross distortions of truth since he has been president, which is only 2.5 years. Does the president have any fact-checkers in his... Read more

The more Republican President Donald Trump talks and tweets, the more he sinks into the debilitating quicksand of racism, especially against blacks. Today, he blasted Democratic Representative Elijah Cummings, an African-American and chairman of the House Oversight Committee. Cummings is a strong Baptist Christian. As such, he has a lengthy political record of advocating for racial equality and judicial fairness. He represents part of the Baltimore area, where he has resided for a long time. His district is populated predominantly... Read more

Shane Lowry increased his four stroke lead starting the day to six at the end by shooting a one over par 72 in very windy conditions to win the British Open on his home turf in Ireland. It was such a fitting win for the native Irishman and the Irish fans. This championship had not been contested in Ireland for 68 years. The Irish patrons were glorying with their chants and songs to support their fellow mate as he strode... Read more
