President Donald Trump’s reactions to this COVID-19 pandemic that the world is suffering is proving what I’ve been saying many times in my blog posts since he began running for president, that he is so unqualified for the task. Just consider his public comments today. Just hours before President Trump spoke publicly yesterday, the EPA warned Americans concerning COVID-19, “do not ingest disinfectant products.” Yet President Trump then went before reporters in a media briefing that was nationally televised and... Read more

The traditional church teaching about God is that God is a Trinity of three co-equal and co-eternal Persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. Anyone who reads my blog much knows that I was a Trinitarian for twenty-two years, and then I changed to believing that the Bible presents God as a single person, whom Jesus regularly called “Father,” and the Bible does not say Jesus is God. Yet I also believe everything else the... Read more

Israel has had three elections in the past year. Each time, the voting has not favored incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his conservative Likud Party to be able to form a coalition government in accordance with Israel’s political system. This has put Israeli politics in a tizzy that the nation has never experienced before. Further complicating matters is that Netanyahu, the longest-serving prime minister of Israel, has been under federal indictment for some time on charges of bribery and... Read more

As I claim in my last post, entitled “COVID-19: Part 12: ‘Unclean’ Pigs Signify Divine Inspiration,” I believe the Bible’s Mosaic food laws in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14 have hygienic value that all people should ponder. Why? I don’t advocate eating completely kosher, as many religious Jews are accustomed to do, which is first based on these laws. But I think the world should recognize that some of the animals in these laws which are therein designated “unclean” suggests... Read more

In this series about the current, worldwide, deadly, COVID-19 pandemic, I have been comparing it to the Mosaic food laws in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14. These texts declare bats as “unclean” animals, therefore forbidden for Hebrews/Jews to eat. This virus is believed to have originated from bats sold at a “wet market” in Wuhan, China. I think it is rather surprising that most biblical scholars do not believe there is any hygienic value to these Mosaic food laws. I... Read more

(To fully understand this post, see the previous two posts, “COVID-19: Part 9: Jesus Did Not Abolish Mosaic Food Laws” and “COVID-19: Part 10: Peter Did Not Abolish Mosaic Food Laws.”) Some New Testament scholars who claim that Jesus (in Mark 7.19b) and Peter (in Acts 10-11) abolished the Mosaic food laws in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14 also cite two texts in the Apostle Paul’s writings for support: Romans 14.14 and 1 Timothy 4.4. In Romans 14, Paul instructs... Read more

(To fully understand this post, see the previous post, “COVID-19: Part 9: Jesus Did Not Abolish the Mosaic Food Laws.”) There is one other New Testament text scholars cite to support their interpretation that Jesus abolished the Mosaic food laws in Mk 7.19b. It is a vision that the Apostle Peter had and is recorded in Acts 10-11. We learn that God was preparing a meeting between Peter and the Roman centurion named Cornelius for this Gentile and his Gentile... Read more

I think whether or not Jesus abolished the Mosaic food laws, as set forth in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14 in the Jewish Bible (Old Testament), may be relevant to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic the world is now suffering. This virus is believed to have originated by a pathogen being transmitted from bats to humans and perhaps via an intermediate animal, such as a pangolin. I have been posting about this subject in this series. These biblical texts say God... Read more

The Gospel of John in the New Testament has always been my favorite book or letter in the Bible ever since my late teens. And my favorite verse of scripture is in this book. Thus, when I used to compete on the PGA Tour, I often gave autographs by including under my name “John 3.16.” This verse is part of a lengthy saying of Jesus in response to an inquirer named Nicodemus. Incidentally, he was one of the two guys... Read more

Yesterday, I posted about the Republican-controlled Kansas Legislative Coordinating Council voting on Wednesday to oppose, in a 5 to 2 vote, Democratic Governor Laura Kelly’s revised executive order calling for a partial lockdown of Kansas citizens due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Council opposed her withdrawal of two elements from her previous order: church services and funerals of more than ten people were exempted. So, the revised order eliminated that right. Regarding the discontinuing of church services of more... Read more
