Quoting Quiverfull: Pick Up His Dirty Socks With a Smile?

Editor’s note: I think all of us as human beings are guilty of this – doing things differently than our spouse would like. It’s part of the human condition. I would even agree that nagging and yelling about this things is counterproductive. But… so is cheerfully putting up with it. What’s so wrong or rebellious about gently reminding someone occasionally that you would like them to put their socks in the laundry basket or dishes in the dishwasher and explaining that every time you have to stop what you’re doing to accomplish those things it leaves you less time for more crucial matters. Adult conversations without blaming and shaming work wonders. It’s all in how you approach it.

The majority of you would agree that your husband does things that upset you. I asked the chat room to give some examples of how their husbands upset them by failing to do something over and over again and how they handle it as godly, submissive wives. I used to handle it poorly. If Ken failed to pick up his newspapers after reading them, putting the toilet seat down, or not pick up his clothes, I would nag him about it (just as a mother would) until he obeyed me. Now, I now this is wrong for the greatest of all is the servant of all.

This seems to be the general consensus of every lady who posted on Lori’s Facebook wall (not chatroom, that is not a chatroom!) about learning to just smile and pick up his socks. Why does no one in this subculture lack the understanding to realize that it’s not a black and white issue, smile and pick up the socks or behave like a toddler?

” It’s so much more peaceful in our home than having me stomp around huffing and puffing like a spoiled child!!!”

QUOTING QUIVERFULL is a regular feature of NLQ – we present the actual words of noted Quiverfull leaders, cultural enforcers and those that seek to keep women submitted to men and ask our readers: What do you think? Agree? Disagree? This is the place to state your opinion. Please, let’s keep it respectful – but at the same time, we encourage readers to examine the ideas of Quiverfull and Spiritual Abuse honestly and thoughtfully.
