Larry Solomon of Bible Gender Roles has been a busy bee this week. First heβs been outraged that people took his statement that he thinks girls who have had their periods are are old enough to marry seriously. Heβs been chewing the scenery that heβs NOT a pedophile. He didnβt mean that eight and nine year olds should marry. He meant 13 years old because, nope, still ringing the bells of βinappropriateβ and βchild molestingβ for me. It is the latest post on his site, which we will never link to here because it drives up his hits and his bragging.
But it is the post just below that one that caught my attention. Itβs Larry sharing his stories of how heβd been sexually abused in the past. He shares some intimate information about his parents and his sisters as well.
You would think if Larry had been the witness to, or been sexually assaulted he might have at least a soupcon of sympathy for the victimized that are coming forward to tell of what happened to him. But no, he still believes coming forward will harm women and their careers.
No, thatβs not going to happen. This isnβt going to make the Pence rule a reality or rob women of their careers, or cause women to abandon feminism. What it will do is kill off obvious sexual abuse, make men taking advantage of women something not tolerated in our society. as it should be.
Larry is lobbying for the Pence Rule we talked about last week being the solution to all problems. Itβs no solution, it presumes all men are uncontrollable animals that will sexually assault women whenever they are alone with them.
The quotes above and below are Larry reacting to this article on Vox that dismisses the Pence Rule for the poison it is.
Nope. If you are too weak to be alone with a women without sexually assaulting her you belong in a jail cell, not out and about in polite society.
Larry tries to equate arming everyone to the teeth to stop mass shootings by claiming that everyone who practices the Pence Rule is βSafeβ No, in no way are those two things alike and solutions to both. problems arenβt the same. False equivalency.
Would not the best way to avoid being accused to sexual assault be not to do it?
