Steven Anderson Upset People Think He Advocates the Murder of Gays

jackassesOver the last month many other online sites, blogs and media sites have drug up Faithful Word Baptist Church Pastor Steven Anderson’s words from three years ago and have tried to mislead folks into thinking this is a new thing. Trust me, it is not. We covered that kill the gays sermon here when he said it. It is here, here, here, and here.

He’s not said much new about killing the gay community beyond his capering and joy over the Pulse Nightclub shooting. In fact, he’s denying he called for the deaths of the gay community, because, get this, he thinks the federal government should be the one executing those that do not conform to his strict ideas about gender norms. Watching him complain is almost comical. I’m reminded of some of the Charlottesville tiki torch bearers who were outed on social media and fired from their jobs because of their hateful views. Racists love to hate but hate it when they are found out.

Anderson is claiming his stance on the death of the gay community is based on Biblical standards and he’s just calling on the United States government to commit to Biblical standards. Using that same lame excuse he has also said in the past that all adulterers should be put to death as well. What must it be like living in that tiny little closet railing against a society that is not governed by a book from the Bronze age?

Government, churches, individuals doing the executions is one hateful thought or demand. I wonder what Jesus would think of calling for the deaths of others? Steven is still stuck in the Old Testament it looks like.
