Respect Authority or Satan Will Take Your Children?

Respect Authority or Satan Will Take Your Children? September 4, 2018

There’s one thing that Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies is great at. Fear mongering, making her followers freak out over the tiniest of things in order to control them. She’s saying in this piece that if you do not respect authority Satan wil take your children. If she can leaven her fear mongering with making mothers worry about their kids she’s happy.

That’s not where atheism starts at all. Usually it starts when you suddenly realize that whatever it was that you believed in is likely false. Like the scene in the Wizard of Oz when Toto pulls back the curtain and you see that the Great and Powerful Oz is nothing more than a small plain man.

Sometimes there is a reason why someone is not respected. Rote respect for undeserving authority has led us into some very bad spaces like both of the World Wars, the ongoing crisis in Nicaragua, and all those molesting Baptist pastors and Catholic priests.
