Change Your Wife For Christ?

Change Your Wife For Christ?

Another plucked out bit from Larry Solomon’s Biblical Gender Roles and a post titled β€œCan Christian Men Marry A Woman Intending To Tame Her?” Larry starts out by mentioning Shakespeare’s play β€˜The Taming of the Shrew” followed by lots of words about his second marriage and changing viewpoints.

I would say that the fact that Larry is able to see a different viewpoint once in a great while and change his mind is an encouraging thing. Here’s hoping he realizes just how toxic many of his messages have been over the years, and that he changes completely.

The problem being that his views are so devoid of normalcy I’m not sure there are enough years left in his life to leave the toxic behind.

No, no, no! You do not marry someone thinking you will change them. After being married 32 years now I can attest you cannot change your partner. You just have to love and accept them, warts and all. Saying you will change your partner after marriage indicates a basic disrespect, and lack of love on your part.

That is not to say you cannot appeal to them and ask them to modify something they do that pushes your buttons. But still, even the power to change that is with the partner, not you.

Makes me wonder what Larry might think if an avowed Satanist married a Christian with the express purpose of winning them over?

Trying to change someone else is merely an exercise in frustration. Larry even admits it has not worked out in his case.
