Made this meme for today.

I’ve been sitting on this quote for two weeks now. I could not let it pass without any commentary. This is from Blog and Mablog’s Doug Wilson’s book “Why Children Matter”

It does not look like Doug thinks they matter much considering he is here urging people to physically abuse those children. You do not harm what you cherish. To guys like Doug children are your reflected glory unto your God/Man status. They are objects to be beaten if they do not show the ‘right’ kind of reference. They are to be used in much the same way as women, but for ego boosting.

Do we really need to reiterate the reasons why beating your children is harmful? The long term PTSD, the psychological reasons of how this sets your child up for a lifetime of trauma injuries, brain changes and emotional problems? A propensity for violence? Didn’t think so.

Also Doug thinks he’s clever here, naming a tantruming toddler with the same name as a Russian mystic – Grigori Rasputin. As far as I can tell in my various readings of Russian history Rasputin never threw public tantrums, tortured siblings or behaved as a dictator. His role was as a mystic healer and behind the scenes advisor to the Russian Tsar and Tsarina. He certainly influenced the Tsar, but was not as entirely powerful as Doug seems to think. His was soft power, like women usually have.

This is why education is paramount, real legitimate education, not the warped version of homeschooling that Doug Wilson pushes, or that even Zsuzsanna Anderson is trying to sell now.
