Corona Virus Closes Bethel Redding Healing Room

Corona Virus Closes Bethel Redding Healing Room March 9, 2020

This one just makes me laugh. Remember Bethel Church in Redding, California? It’s the church led by Bill Johnson that received an enormous amount of media attention back when they announced they would be raisingΒ  toddler Olive Heiligenthal from the dead. Even with a β€œDead Raising Team” they failed miserably.

Cult churches like Bethel exhibit copious cult behaviors. Recently I was talking to a friend about our time with Bethel and the Healing Rooms and she said that it’s amazing just how normal this all seemed to us at the time, but how bizarre and toxic it seems now.

But things are now sort of ironic in a humorous way. Bethel Healing Rooms are closing their doors for awhile due to.. you guessed it… the Corona Virus.

Okay, so they are not saying it is because of COVID19 , but it’s pretty clear that’s what it likely is.Β  Cancelling large events is responsible behavior, and not cult like during this time when we’ve been encouraged to try and stop the spread.

But the immature silly side of me is secretly chortling over the irony of β€˜healing’ places closing due to illness.Β  Still, thanks Bethel for doing the only responsible thing in this situation.

Everyone please keep washing your hands and stay safe. Here in Costa Rica we now have 9 confirmed cases and 34 people suspected of having Corona. So far the only edict the government here has issued is no hand shacking, hugging or passing the holy kiss of peace during church services and wash your hands. Where this is awful is that at least 5 of the Costa Rican victims came in on flights from Italy and the U.S., never mentioned not feeling well to anyone, and now it is estimated these victims exposed up to 170 people per planeload to the virus. Those exposed people are now scattered throughout Costa Rica unwittingly possibly spreading the virus. Between the three flights that’s a possibility of 500 carriers of the illness.
