I’ve started a twenty part podcast series on the history of the Catholic Church.
You can follow it over at my main blog-website Standing on My Head. Go here. You can also follow it at BreadBox Media. Just scroll down to my title page and click through to PodBean to subscribe. You can also subscribe through my iTunes podcast channel here.
I think it’s important to study history because of the old saw that “those who do not learn from the mistakes of history are doomed to repeat them.” History is important because Jesus Christ was born into human history and changed the course of human history as no one else ever did or every will.
The twenty part series opens with a discussion of the historicity of the gospels. Each episode after that will be an overview of about one century in the church–focussing on the heresies and corruption, but also the saints and scholars who answered the problems. Thus the title: Triumphs and Tragedies.
I hope and pray this series will help people look at the past in order to understand the present and look forward to the future with confidence and hope.
Head over there and listen to the first episode. If you like it, share with others!
Also, on my main blog there are extra blog posts about each episode which give extra links and resources for study for each of the centuries of the church.
