When I lived in England people were not so scared all the time. Here in the USA I hear so much fear from people. I’ve lived back in my home country now for ten years. For eight of those years Barack Obama was the president. From those who disliked the president there was so much fear mongering. You read the junk like I did: There were FEMA camps prepared to house the religious people when Obama declared martial law. Obama... Read more

You know those screens they had when we were kids? Uncle Joe would wrestle with the tripod legs and pinch his fingers trying to raise the darn thing, then he’d plug in the projector and show his holiday slides until everyone was yawning. I sometimes feel like one of those projector screens. A woman writes on Twitter, “I read two of your blog posts–one on immigrant and one on Muslims. Both were very worrying to think they were written by... Read more

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops have issued a statement re-assuring everyone that Catholics are welcoming to refugees. This is unremarkable in itself and simply re-affirms other documents which  lay out Catholic social teaching on refugees and immigrants. It’s good to hear the church’s social teaching on these matters, but one does pause to wonder at some of the effusive language being used. Most Reverend Mitchell T. Rozanski, Bishop of Springfield and Chairman of the USCCB Committee on Ecumenical and Interreligious... Read more

Embed from Getty Images   The left clearly don’t like President Trump’s edict suspending travel from seven countries, but their hysterical hyperbole over the whole matter isn’t going to do them any favors. The executive order might be dumb. The media’s response is dumber. This post really isn’t about the order itself or about Trump. It is about the hypocrisy and stupidity of the mainstream media. I have written about it more in my post today at Imaginative Conservative. The gist... Read more

Today’s blog post over at the National Catholic Register goes through a topic I have written on before. God has created us to long for and need the unconditional love of a Father. Feminists can deny it. Children can rebel against it. Adults can think it doesn’t matter, but it’s there like a mountain. Its a need we all have. When we do not receive a father’s love we still long for it and look for it in many other... Read more

Have you ever noticed how lies have to keep getting bigger and bigger? Take, for example, the lie of the sexual revolution. It started out being a kind of hippie dream. You could “love the one you’re with” and with artificial contraception, have complete and joyful sexual freedom. But it didn’t stop there. It couldn’t stop there. Happy, carefree heterosexual sex had to also be just as open to homosexuals and then to just about any body who wanted to... Read more

I posted earlier today on this story in London’s Daily Telegraph. The short version is that a Dutch doctor had decided to kill an old lady who had dementia and the old woman began to resist, so the woman’s family was asked to hold her down while the doctor gave her the injection. In this case, the woman, who was suffering from dementia,  had earlier expressed a desire to have her life ended when she felt the “time was right”.... Read more

So called “Assisted Suicide” has been legal for some time in the land of tulips, wooden shoes and windmills. The Netherlands legalized murder by injection seventeen years ago, and the numbers of old people, depressed, terminally ill and disabled who are injected goes up year by year. To date there have been about 5,500 deaths. The latest horror story from Holland is this unbelievable tale in which Doctor Death had to get the old woman’s relatives to hold the poor old... Read more

Catholics are excited this weekend at the success of the March for Life and the appearance on the platform of the Vice President and White House advisor Ms. Conway. It seems the political tide may be turning in a pro-life direction. On the other hand, many Catholics are dismayed by President Trump’s stance on immigration and refugees. It’s difficult for many to cut through the sensational headlines and biased media to see common sense. One of the bottom line questions... Read more

Nothing illustrates the two Americas better than last weekend’s Women’s March and this weekend’s March for Life. The Women’s March had unbelievable coverage by the mainstream media. It was as if the major media were unpaid, national and international supporters of a left wing agenda driven campaign. Unless something changes, on the other hand, we can expect the March for Life to be virtually ignored. Half a million (mostly young) people will march and the world will look away. The... Read more
