Fatima and the Rosary

maxresdefaultDid you know that the full title of Our Lady of Fatima is “Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Fatima”?

This is why at Our Lady of the Rosary Church we will be marking this year with special Masses and prayers. The Holy Father has granted the opportunity for  plenary indulgences for all those who celebrate with prayers and devotions Our Lady of Fatima. The details for the indulgence can be found here.

One of the conditions is a pilgrimage to Fatima, but another is this:

  1. Pray before any statue of Our Lady of Fatima
To the faithful who visit with devotion a statue of Our Lady of Fatima
solemnly exposed for public veneration in any church, oratory or proper place during the days of the anniversary of the apparitions, the 13th of each month from May to October 2017, and there devoutly participate in some celebration or prayer in honor of the Virgin Mary. In addition, the faithful must pray the Our Father, recite the Creed and invoke Our Lady of Fatima.

Therefore our image of Our Lady of Fatima will be on display for veneration in the Upper Church at Our Lady of the Rosary beginning on May 13. A schedule of special prayers and Masses for the six months of the anniversary of the apparitions will be published.

It is the mission of our parish to promote the Holy Rosary and the Divine Mercy devotions. If you are in the Greenville area or are passing through, make sure you come and join us for this important anniversary. I have also written about the anniversary of Fatima here and here.
