I’ve pointed out many times how Bryan Fischer routinely contradicts himself on the scope of the First Amendment. When it involves any Establishment Clause issue, he says that it restricts Congress and only Congress, not other parts of the federal government or the states. When it involves a free exercise issue, he says that it restricts everyone. And he’s doing it again.
Bryan Fischer continues to be either completely oblivious to his own contradictions or he’s just plain lying and knows his audience won’t catch him at it when it comes to how to interpret the First Amendment. Ranting about last week’s ruling that a huge cross on public property in Maryland is unconstitutional, he says:
To call Bryan Fischer’s understanding of constitutional law incoherent would be the understatement of the decade. He takes completely contradictory positions on the First Amendment and has no idea what “legislative power” is or what jurisdiction the courts have. Of all the Bryan Fischer awards I’ve given out, this might be the most jaw-dropping one yet. It’s like David Barton has finally reached peak David Barton. He actually had the audacity to say of another fake historian that if something he says is factually wrong, he should correct it.
It’s been obvious for a long time that Donald Trump is perhaps the least self-aware human being ever to exist. Now his wife Melania is challenging him for that title, saying in a speech the other day that as First Lady, she would try to end cyber-bullying. Seriously.
The Bryan Fischer Award is given to those who display a staggering lack of self-awareness and this one is a doozy. It isn’t just that Donald Trump has accused Clinton of his own worst traits (as he often does), it’s that he criticizes her for the thing he said about himself virtually word-for-word previously.
Bryan Fischer is, as always, utterly clueless and hypocritical when it comes to Colin Kaepernick’s protest. He actually declares him to be a criminal because he’s violating the U.S. Flag Code, a law that is customary only and carries no civil or criminal penalties whatsoever.
I forget how many times Bryan Fischer has won the award named after him, but it’s several times now. He just keeps showing us his almost supernatural lack of self-awareness. For instance, here he is last Thursday decrying the use of name-calling in debates:
So the other day Bryan Fischer said that you would be perfectly justified in voting for Donald Trump just because he’s a man because God does not want women to be in positions of power like the presidency. But guess what he said in 2011 when Michele Bachmann was running?
Bryan Fischer is arguing, as he long has, that we should prohibit all Muslims from coming to the United States, and he is inventing some history to do it. He compares people from Muslim countries to people from the countries where the Ebola virus was common and falsely claims that we stopped immigration from those countries.
