As I’ve said many times, it’s virtually impossible for someone to be so extremist that today’s Republican party leaders and candidates won’t identify themselves with them. They’ll go on the shows of Michael Savage, Gordon Klingenschmitt, Rick Wiles, Bryan Fischer. Ted Cruz is now doing a townhall event with Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America.
Bryan Fischer recently told his audience that they should only go to a same-sex marriage if they first send a letter to the couple explaining why you think it’s wrong. But that was a bit too warm and fuzzy for a caller to Tony Perkins’ radio show, who said you should go only to interrupt the wedding and tell them they’re going to hell.
Charismatic Christians love to talk about the “gifts of the spirit” (healing, discernment, etc). I think I’ve discovered a new one: psychological projection. John Zmirak, editor of TV evangelist James Robison’s new site, The Stream, puts this “gift” on display in spades.

I’m sure many of you remember a blog post I wrote almost a year ago entitled Atheists, Please Stop Saying These Things. It was just a critique of what I think are some very common and very bad arguments made by atheists. Tim Wildmon of the American Family Association, noting that more than a third of conservative Republicans think Obama is a Muslim, says that it’s entirely plausible that he is because he “grew up in it over there in Indonesia or somewhere.” Actually, he was in Indonesia for four years, two of which he spent going to a Catholic school.

I’m almost relieved to find out that anti-gay bigots in England are every bit as stupid and obnoxious as anti-gay bigots in America. Asked about whether gay people particularly like having sex with animals, a member of the UK Independence Party said yes. Because a donkey tried to rape his horse. I’m serious.
