Quoting Quiverfull: Hated For Speaking ‘The Truth’?

Quoting Quiverfull: Hated For Speaking ‘The Truth’? June 24, 2017

Editor’s note: Hola! I’m now in the tiny town of Copey Costa Rica, in the mountains south of San Jose. I haven’t thought about Lori’s nonsense for days now, except when snickering imagining just how hard and quick she would abandon the idea of total complete submission if her husband Ken were to order her to join him in a Peace Corp installation in a third world country like I have done. I’m betting that where the rubber meets the road she’d abandon her principles.

I’m currently living in what is basically a one room place with no air conditioning. It’s living like the locals, and while our accommodations are very primitive I am willing to live like this for a couple of months to help my husband fulfill one of his life long dreams – a Peace Corp trip. No way would Lori, or any of the other female cultural enforcers would do that. I know this is merely for a short season and that soon enough we’ll be moving on to a beach front house with all the modern accoutrements that I like.

Lori is still making hay and furiously foaming at the mouth that the ‘Hating Haters’ that dislike those pious little handwritten notes she loves to post on Facebook. She thinks people dislike them because they are enemies of God, refusing to even consider that the reason these things are dismissed as trite and stupid because her theology is poisonous and shallow.

Many believe that America is a place of tolerance, yet far too many are now trained by the system to attack any ideas that seem to go against their worldly agenda.  I am comfortable standing on the Truth as I know Who has my back and He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world. They are being blinded by the enemy of their souls. We are commanded to speak Truth in love and plant seeds where we can. This is what I do and I love doing it. I also love watching God send thousands of new readers to my blog and Facebook. What Satan intends for evil, God can use to help pull His remnant together so that together we can support each other in the ways of the Lord.

Don’t feel badly for me when I get hateful comments. We have been promised in Scripture that we will be hated because He was hated. This is nothing new. Jesus spoke the most radical words at the nexus of history that exploded forth the greatest display of God’s salvation by way of the cross. They hated the creator God so much that they murdered His Son, and God turned their hate into the greatest good for mankind. Yes, pray for me and my ministry, and be an unashamed light in a world that is quickly growing dark with sin and blindness. Continue to do what the Lord has commanded you to do and store your treasures in heaven. The time is short. So recognize that anyone can replace you in a job, but no one can replace you as a godly wife to your husband and as a loving mother to your children.

QUOTING QUIVERFULL is a regular feature of NLQ – we present the actual words of noted Quiverfull leaders, cultural enforcers and those that seek to keep women submitted to men and ask our readers: What do you think? Agree? Disagree? This is the place to state your opinion. Please, let’s keep it respectful – but at the same time, we encourage readers to examine the ideas of Quiverfull and Spiritual Abuse honestly and thoughtfully.

    Yay, Suzanne! Have fun!

  • Joy

Hopefully at least a few readers will see that she is saying she gets “hateful” comments, even if those comments magically don’t make it to the comment section on her blog.

  • Saraquill

Her phrasing sounds so interchangable with other zealots. If her “truth” was say, crunchy vs. smooth peanut butter, it would sound like the above rant with a few nouns swapped out.

  • Kathi

Lori is never going to let us forget about her viral post, is she? So much for humbleness.

I am incredibly jealous of your new life experience. I have dreamed of going in the Peace Corp, and I know my husband would love to follow along. Yes, we’ve already had this conversation. Hopefully, one day. I hope you have a fantastic experience and come back with great memories.

  • AFo

“anyone can replace you in a job” – Excuse me? Maybe anyone could have replaced Lori at her job, but I like to think my employer values me and my work a bit more than that. Also, Lori dear, those people don’t “hate” you because they’re afraid to hear the “truth;” they likely have legitimate criticisms of your posts that you’re too much of a toddler to handle, coupled with a snobby, sanctimonious attitude that rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

Jesus spoke the most radical words at the nexus of history

He sure did, and if he were walking around with the same message today, Lori would be baying for his blood. She’d want him kicked out of her country and shut up in a black box overseas. She’d pray for him to be forgotten by one and all. She’d want to blot out anything he had to say. Crucifixion would have been way too public and transparent for her taste. Just saying.

  • Melody

Jesus was hated, the early Christians were hated, so we have to be hated too. Let’s get out of our way in being nasty so that we may ensure it happens….

  • Kathi

“Don’t feel badly for me when I get hateful comments.”

Oh, Lori. I never have, never will.

  • Jim Jones

    > They hated the creator God so much that they murdered His Son, and God turned their hate into the greatest good for mankind.

She’s an ignoramus at theology too.

    > “Jesus spoke the most radical words at the nexus of history.”

He spoke contradictory babble. The gospels show us the complexity of the religion and how different people had radically different ideas about it.

“Christianity: 2,000 years of everyone making it up as they go!”

  • Tuna

Lori seems to think that anyone who disagrees with her is “hateful”. I don’t think that word means what she thinks it means.

  • guerillasurgeon

Can someone help me out here? I can’t get to the jerks for Jesus thing. Even if I copy and paste the alleged url. Just keep sending me back to a page where I’m supposed to be redirected but aren’t.

  • Friend

“If they hate me, I must be doing it right” is not the best credo.

  • Evelyn

If you’re so “comfortable standing on the Truth,” why can’t you shut up for 30 seconds?

But to Suzanne, I hope you enjoy Costa Rica, both the primitive and the more luxurious!

  • Friend

Jesus said, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). There’s a difference between showing love and expecting hate… even if the love is so radical that it threatens the social order.

  • Suzanne Harper Titkemeyer

It’s messed up right now. I need to do some code correcting on it. Will fix this

  • EyesandEars

    I trust you, Suzanne.

  • Jo

What an arrogant woman who puts herself at the same level of importantance to Jesus. Humble, quiet spirit – not words that belong to Lori.

  • 1: Have a blast in CR!

2: “Don’t feel badly for me when I get hateful comments. We have been promised in Scripture that we will be hated because He was hated.”

Yeah… that’s… not at all why people hate Christians.

It’s more the constant meddling in other people’s lives, the insistence that everybody must follow their religious tenets, and the constant efforts to put their religious tenets into civil and criminal law. Oh, and the gay-bashing. And the trans-bashing. And the raging hysteria about “perverts in restrooms”. I’m sure there are things I’m forgetting, too.

  • Nightshade

Hate to break it to ya, Aunt Lori, but (most) people don’t hate you because you speak ‘truth in love,’ they hate you because you wouldn’t know love if it bit you on the ass. They hate you because if you had your way every woman in the world would be dependent on, and defenseless against, men, no matter how men treat them. They hate you because you delete suicide hotline phone numbers given to potentially suicidal writers, but allow to remain a comment from a man who says even if a husband commands his wife to help molest his children she has to obey. When asked about you being bullied by a writer who says ‘everyone seems to be so kind!’ you answer ‘I delete or hide them quickly. I stay on top of it.’ So the fact that you allowed the molesting father comment to remain means…what exactly? They hate you because you don’t want anyone to use birth control, but we all know that you’ve used it in the past because you deliberately poked holes in your diaphragm to trick your husband into another child so you could stay home. They hate you because you blame a woman for her husband’s cheating and substance abuse issues, saying she should keep the marriage intact no matter what, but don’t want Josh Duggar talked about because ‘we have no idea if it is true…and this family would be in need of our prayers, not a discussion about it.’ In short, those who hate you, hate you because you’re a controlling, critical, hypocritical, self-centered woman who knows nothing about love or compassion towards others who don’t believe exactly like you do.

Do I hate you? Not really. I pity you more than anything else. Going through life the way you are must be miserable. You claim to be an ‘older woman’ (how old are you anyway? 50s or so, I think?) telling younger women how to live, but you come across as just an old woman…a bitter old woman who can’t stand seeing anyone else happy, especially another woman, so you do all you can to sabotage everyone else. A miserable old woman who I can’t even bring myself to truly hate.

  • Okay since this was my first experience with this monster I will admit I laughed at the martyrbation. No one hates her because she speaks “truth”. People are outraged at her because people could literally die if they take her horrible advice. People who are a little blue might be able to read a book or mediate and get over it. People with serious depression may need medical attention and at the very least it might help to talk to someone with some actual training in dealing with depression, especially if they are suicidal. What kind of monster messes around with suicide? Here we are the godless heathen and all of us are outraged by that but she thinks she’s the moral one and she think that just reading the Bible will fix someone who might have a serious medical problem that needs immediate attention? No, I don’t hate her but I am outraged and frankly facebook should take her page down. She’s a public menace.

  • Ouch. I didn’t know the history of this person so I just chuckled at the martyrbating. I know people like this, but none monstrous enough to delete a suicide hotline number! What kind of monster does that? So yeah maybe I do hate her just a little bit. Wait, that’s not hate. It’s just revulsion.

Screenshots and discussion here: https://spiritualsoundingboard.com/2017/06/05/the-dangerous-teachings-of-lori-alexander-of-the-transformed-wife/ I don’t care if she believes her god wants total doormat submission to her husband, that’s between them, but not only is she insisting that everyone has to live that way, she’s crossed over into giving dangerous so-called ‘advice.’ I can’t imagine how desperate her reader had to be to look to Lori for help, and Lori just gave her the standard ‘believe God, and everything will be just fine’ crap.

  • Nightshade

Only if the heifer needs dragging!

  • pinkie

Probably Lori thinks that Scripture means if she can get random people to hat her, she must be doing something right.

  • I didn’t read all of it. I couldn’t. That some serious fundamentalist derangement there. I was raised Evangelical but we certainly would have sent people to trained professionals if they needed medical attention including mental health care. I’m hoping that maybe her audience is small and even people who read it are smart enough to go see an actual doctor or ask for help if they are suicidal or in any other kind of serious problem. But that doesn’t make her any less of a monster.

  • Finding Home

I love the way tolerance is a virtue when you agree with Lori, and a terrible sinful thing when you allow anything of which Lori disapproves.

  • KarenOfRocks

To Suzanne: I hope everything goes splendidly. I’m glad you and your husband are able to do this. I hope it isn’t too uncomfortable.

As far as Lori is concerned I can’t be bothered to hate her. Be annoyed, even angry, at the ridiculous advice she gives, but she doesn’t get hate. She’s not that important. And that, alone, I expect, would distress her. Being important seems to be something she strives for.

Back when I was a tween, growing up Catholic, we had a popular hymn with the refrain, “And they’ll know we are Christians by our love.” Now, I actually know a whole lot of loving Christians of both Catholic and Protestant variants, though I’m an atheist. But Lori and her ilk don’t fall into that category.

  • Anonyme

Lori is about as helpful to Christians as Comic Sans is to typography.

  • Allison the Great

I could not upvote this enough. Again, seriously baffled that a monster like Lori has the audacity to call herself “moral’. Makes me glad to be a godless heathen, as I seem to know right from wrong way better than she does.

Was the commenter who said that wives should help molest their children if their husband orders them to Trey? I bet it fucking was Trey. Again, these people are sick.

  • Nightshade

If my recollection is correct it was Dave. Apparently it was too extreme even for Trey.

  • Specky

Yeehaw! for Suzanne. Have much fun!
    For the Transormed Humanoid–snortle.

  • katiehippie

Trey was probably thinking “damn, I wish I’d thought of that”

  • gimpi1

Mrs. Alexander is yet again confusing people disagreeing with her as “hatred” and “intolerance.” No one is shutting down her blog, harassing their family, ordering them to leave town, firing her husband. They’re fine. People simply think her “truth” is poppycock. The fact that she can still blog her poppycock to her heart’s content largely without consequences shows us that we live in a tolerant society.

Best of luck in Costa Rica,Suzanne!

  • gimpi1

Yeah, that’s an interesting paradox, isn’t it? Sort of “Alexander’s view-paradox.” The waveform of tolerance collapses in the presence of divergent views, and you can’t know which tolerance-wave will collapse until Mrs. Alexander’s often self-contradictory views are blogged. Quantum bitching?

  • milesaway

Don’t forget abusive, too. In her old blog, she bragged about spanking one of her kids in tandem with her equally jerky husband when they were like 2 years old for not picking up their “raisans.” Ugh. I’m so sorry those kids ended up with that evil bitch for a mother, and I hope that if any of them still have a relationship w/ her at this point, it’s superficial at best.

Love and compassion are big words Lori doesn’t understand, and she never will. My heart goes out to the people who will end up turning to her for help but instead get more spiritual abuse heaped on them, as well as the people she’s already hurt thus far.
