LTZ’s 2025 Sigil for the Year

LTZ’s 2025 Sigil for the Year January 9, 2025

I was traversing liminal space as the calendar year shifted, so the 2025 Sigil for the Year making session took place via zoom on 1-8-2025. We created something that feels powerful, transformative, and dynamic. Here it is for your own exploration and use!

What’s this all about?

Instead of a New Year’s resolution, I prefer to set the tone for the coming year with a sigil. This approach shifts the focus away from a single goal or task and more towards overall change.

I started creating a yearly sigil around 2015-2016. At the end of each year, I collaborate with my Patreon supporters to craft a sigil for the coming year. They provide a few words or phrases that they’d like to see as a theme for the new year. I go through all of the input and create a list of elements for us to work with and then we use my signature Sigil Witchery method to craft the sigil. (You can check out the 2024 Sigil for the Year here.)

For the past 5 years, I’ve done it live via our weekly Zoom session so folks can join in on the process. If you’re on my Patreon (or want to join it for just $1 a month which gets you access to a lot of behind-the-scenes art and magic), you can watch the video recording.  In the video, you can see the process happen in real time, as well as in-depth discussion about how the words were grouped, what they mean, and how we brought the sigil to life.

Last year we created TWO sigils – one that was focused on the personal/microcosm (and had its own set of words) and one that’s focused on community/macrocosm. I liked how that worked so much that we repeated the exercises again this year. We first created the personal, then the communal one. The sigil being shared here is the community/macrocosm sigil. (The personal sigil is being shared only via Patreon (it’s also on the video) and allows for greater personalization once you understand how to use it. )

Here is the virtual whiteboard from the workshop:

Design Notes

2025 is the year of the Snake (wood) in the Chinese calendar. I’ve also been working for the past year (along with T. Thorn Coyle) doing what we call “Invoking the Star” – which works with the Tarot’s Star card energy, as well as serpent energy for transformation. So it was unsurprising that this starry serpent made an appearance for 2025.

In the video, for drawing ease I shaded in the serpent, but mentioned that I would likely widen the line of the body and make it transparent. 2025 is a 9 year (2+2+5=9), so I found it notable that both the communal and personal sigils contained 9 main categories (which was realized after the fact.) So for the body where I initially placed 4 asterisks – I add 5 “X”s which past the initial intersection at the neck, makes 9 designs. 9 relates to the Hermit – which calls for introspection and guidance.

Also, the personal sigil design was symmetrical, but we felt that 2025 needed an asymmetrical design. I feel I should also point out that the 2020 Sigil for the Year was asymmetrical. There was also a serpent in the base of the 2023 sigil, but this one is much more dynamic and on the hunt.

Much thanks to all of my Patreon folks who participated in building the sigil!

How To Use This Sigil

You are welcome to use this sigil however you see fit that is in alignment with the intent of the sigil.
Suggestions for use:
– Place on your altar, wear on the body, or put in places that are related to the changes you wish to bring into your life/your community
– Put it on a journal, notebook, calendar, or planner – some place you will go to regularly throughout the year.
– Use in meditation as a focus – either mentally or walk/dance/draw it with your body as a moving meditation

Please note: When sharing this sigil (or any other sigil you find on this blog), please be sure to include the link to the blog post.  The sigil works best if people understand precisely what went into it, versus just sharing the image and telling people to use it.
