PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan held a presser at the TPC River Highlands golf course at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut, just minutes ago to announce and answer press questions about some major changes for the future of the PGA Tour. Although it appears that these changes were caused by the crisis engineered by the new and competing LIV Golf’ Invitational Series that just began about twelve days ago, the PGA Tour’s Tournament Policy Board reportedly has been discussing... Read more

Four-time major championship winner Brooks Koepka, a native American, broke ranks today from the PGA Tour to join the new, Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational Series. This departure by Koepka is surely a major blow to the PGA Tour’s resistance to this disruptive upheaval in pro golf. He was the number one player in the world less than one year ago, but he has fallen to 19th due to injuries. The first LIV Golf tournament was held ten days ago in... Read more

Twenty-seven year old Matt Fitzpatrick of Sheffield, England, won the U.S. Open today by one stroke over Will Zalatoris and Scottie Scheffler at the the historic, 140-year old Country Club of Brookline, Massachusetts. It was his first win on the PGA Tour and his first winning of one of the four major championships in golf. His father, mother, and brother had come across the sea and therefore were there to celebrate with him. Fitzgerald put on quite a display golfing... Read more

Will Zalatoris and Matt Fitzpatrick are tied for the lead in the U.S. Open at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, after three rounds with four-under par totals of 206. Impressive, twenty-five year old Zalatoris has been knocking at the door to get his first win on the PGA Tour, especially in the majors. Just last month, he lost the PGA Championship at Tulsa in a three-hole aggregate playoff to Justin Thomas. Arguably, the four best golfers in the world... Read more

Developments are moving along regarding former President Donald Trump that are corroborating so much of what I posted about him on my Kermit Zarley Blog in about 350 posts written during mostly his presidency. Much of it is now in my book Bible Predicts Trump Fall. This weekend, some evangelical Christians held their Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Nashville. Yesterday, they shamefully hosted former President Trump in which he gave a speech again attacking his former Vice President Mike... Read more

This LIV Golf series is in serious competition with the PGA Tour. Last week, its Commissioner Jay Monahan suspended the memberships of the 17 PGA Tour members who competed in the first LIV Golf event held in London last week. The main stars who played in it, and therefore were suspended indefinitely, included Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson. But Johnson resigned his PGA Tour membership. It appears that LIV Golf will not succeed unless it can attract top pro... Read more

I like to read American political commentator and three-time Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas Friedman. He has a column in The New York Times. He also loves playing golf. His latest column piece is entitled “Saudi Arabia Take a Mulligan. Here’s What It Can Do Instead.” It’s a critique of the current upheaval in pro golf caused by the new, Saudi-backed pro golf tour named LIV Golf International Series that is bucking the PGA Tour. It just held its first event... Read more

Babe Hiskey and I co-founded the PGA Tour Bible Study in 1965. Babe is my close friend and former teammate and roommate at the University of Houston. That group continues to exist on the PGA Tour. It has always met each week during a PGA Tour tournament in an evening before the tournament begins, usually on Wednesday. Nineteen days ago, the website gutsygolf.com published a list of the Christians on the PGA Tour. It doesn’t say how that was determined.... Read more

Brandel Chamblee, a friend of mine, has blasted unmercifully the leading American pro golfers who participated in the first LIV Golf event last weekend in London. Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Bryson DeChambeau are the three highest-ranked American pros who have joined LIV Golf. Johnson and Mickelson played in that event last weekend. DeChambeau is scheduled to play the next LIV Golf event in Portland, Oregon, late this month. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan suspended all 17 members of the... Read more

America is absolutely sick about guns. The USA, a nation of 330 million people, is the most gun-loving nation in the world. Individual Americans reportedly own about 400 million firearms, thus more than one gun per person. The National Rifle Association has been a very strong force lobbying the U.S. Congress in opposition to gun law restrictions. One of the results is that mass shootings with handguns and rifles is in such epidemic proportions in the U.S. that its now... Read more
