This post was going to be about boundaries and how Pagandom steamrolls boundaries. There were a lot of topics stewing in my mind, all with a tinge of anger and frustration. One of my biggest irritations that I run into, though, is this recurring fight over the various spellings of 'magic' and whether or not to capitalize 'gods' and 'goddesses' (as well as pronouns for gods and goddesses). I'm turning 20 today, which is an interesting age, one where most people say, "One more year!" as if I've never had alcohol in my life. Though I am looking forward to next year, that has more to do with being able to buy alcoholic offerings (the ones I prefer to give) than with being able to consume. Read more

Names and identifiers are a pretty big deal. While I've heard people high and low say that 'labels don't matter', I can't agree with that. Sure, breaking down barriers that labels and identifications can establish can be a good thing and create great, exciting, unexpected dialog - but what we call ourselves and what others call us is still important. I've noticed, in my wanderings and peeking in to random Pagan places on and offline, that there is a tendency to stick with one or two deities when it comes to worship and celebration. I can't exactly say this is de facto a bad thing, as it works for many people and is just how they do things, but it has struck me as odd. Read more
