Here are ten Bible passages that connect acts of love with being saved and attaining eternal life, and directly contradict the Protestant belief in “faith alone.”

Luke 6:35 (RSV) But LOVE your enemies, and do good, . . . and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High;

Romans 13:8, 11 Owe no one anything, except to LOVE one another; for he who LOVES his neighbor has fulfilled the law. … [11] … SALVATION is nearer to us now than when we first believed; (cf. 13:9-10; Matthew 22:36-40; 1 John 5:2-3; 2 John 1:5-6)

1 Corinthians 13:2, 13 … if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not LOVE, I am nothing. … [13] So faith, hope, LOVE abide, these three; but the greatest of these is LOVE. (cf. 2:9; 8:3; 16:22)

Galatians 5:4, 6, 21-22 You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace. …[6] For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any avail, but FAITH WORKING THROUGH LOVE. … [21] envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. … those who do such things shall not INHERIT THE KINGDOM of God. [22] But the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 and may the Lord make you increase and abound in LOVE to one another and to all men, … [13] so that he may establish your hearts unblamable in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

1 Thessalonians 5:8-9 But, since we belong to the day, let us be sober, and put on the breastplate of faith and LOVE, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.
[9] For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain SALVATION through our Lord Jesus Christ,

1 Timothy 2:15 Yet woman will be SAVED through bearing children, if she continues in faith and LOVE and holiness, . . .

James 2:5 Listen, my beloved brethren. Has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and HEIRS OF THE KINGDOM which he has promised to those who LOVE him? (cf. 1:12)

1 John 4:17 In this is LOVE perfected with us, that we may have confidence for the DAY OF JUDGMENT … (cf. 2:3, 5, 10, 15; 3:10, 17-19; 4:7-8, 11-12, 16, 20-21)

Jude 20-21 But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; [21] keep yourselves in the LOVE OF GOD; wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto ETERNAL LIFE.
